Kendrick Lamar scoops up $8.6 million Brooklyn penthouse

Rapper Kendrick Lamar is the new owner of a four-bedroom, 3.5-bath penthouse in Brooklyn, N.Y. He recently purchased the duplex apartment for $8.6 million, according to the New York Times.

The rapper, whose full name is Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, isn’t the only high-profile star drawn to Brooklyn lately. Other A-list celebs, including Zendaya and Michelle Williams, have also expanded their property portfolios by buying real estate in the borough.

The building’s lobby is a work of art.

Living large

The 3,140-square-foot condo was finished in 2015 and features a spacious, two-level, open layout.

Bar seating, warm-wood cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and oversize windows give the centrally located chef’s kitchen a luxe edge. Meanwhile, the adjacent dining room is decked out with built-in shelving and recessed lighting.

The layout includes a kitchen, dining room, living room, and multiple bedrooms.

The dining room has jaw-dropping views of the East River.

In the living room, soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows offer an incredible view of lower Manhattan.

The bedrooms also boast immaculate views. One features a mirrored ceiling, while the others have hardwood floors. These rooms can be kept as sleeping quarters or used for other purposes—a home office or music room, maybe?

This bedroom has an unexpected detail — a mirrored ceiling.

The bathrooms are sleek and modern, with details such as soaking tubs, glass-encased showers, and tiled walls.

Out and about

Last but not least are the private outdoor spaces, which include a terrace and an oversize rooftop deck.

The building also has a laundry list of amenities, including a garage, pool, roof deck, a perfectly appointed lobby, and a doorman. A health and fitness club, communal outdoor spaces, and extra storage are also available for use. It’s just steps from the Brooklyn Bridge and near everything the area has to offer. Still, it’s nicely separated from all the hustle and bustle.

In 2011, Lamar released his first studio album, “Section.80.” The 36-year-old has won 17 Grammy awards, four American Music awards, and a Pulitzer Prize.
