STORYLINE:
The opening ceremony of Russia’s Spasskaya Tower Military Music Festival and Tattoo took place in Moscow’s Red Square on Thursday evening.
The annual festival features military band parades, dance performances and fireworks displays.
This year marks the event’s 15th installment, but participants have come from fewer countries than in previous years.
Bands from India, Armenia, Belarus, Egypt, Thailand and Venezuela are visiting Moscow to take part.
The festival runs through September 4.
